Well it’s been a while since I last was around on the blog!
But here I am…
It is very late and I just returned from a gig in my “backyard”…
My initiative Strøm På Roskilde held the first club night in the Basement at INSP! here in Roskilde.
I have to say I have mixed feelings about this night.
It was the first time I tried to plan a more club’ ish night, and therefore I was mostly focused on logistic and overall planning of the night. Not necessarily on how many people attending.
What does it take to throw a party like this? Can I do it alone, or do I need help from other people?
I did get help on the night, and I’m really grateful for that, because both organizing and playing at an event is so stressfull! I know that for sure… been there, done that… several times before!
In terms of my own playing, I have to be honest and say, that I have no clue how it went. It was my first 100% improvised gig (something I really want to dive further in to…) and it felt like one of the longest hours of my life. There were moments where I was like “yes… yes… more like this”, but I also struggled a lot during the set. But it is what it is and I did it!
The most disappointing feeling is, when I think about how many people (or should I say few…) that came. I know I wrote earlier, that I didn’t care that much about how many people came, but still… what do I do wrong? Is my idea of presenting non commercial live performed electronic music just not so Roskilde friendly? Or should I just be patience, keep pushing, and then the right people will eventually find out? It feels like walking in a dessert sometimes, presenting (and playing…) the kind of music I hold so dearly to my heart. But I strongly believe, that if you keep on walking, you will eventually find an oase.
A big shout out to Kølksen, Wilk Kick and cstl from our dear Petite Victory Collective, for coming to Roskilde and helping out with providing frequencies and heavy rhythms through the speakers. You are the best! Being in a collective with open minded artists, who really wants to help out and just fucking play, no matter how many people there is in the room, is just an amazing feeling! And seeing the guys taking responsibility for handling the lights during each others performances, when they could just step back and don’t care is so awesome! It really makes me happy. I also have to mention some dear colleagues, who handled the door and the bar in a very convincing way. Rum & cola is now my new favorite drink, thanks to Anne Lea… and my dear friend (and very often partner in crimes…) Lars deserves a mention. He is probably one of the brains I tend to feed off the most, when I need to bounce off ideas or just get a very honest opinion on things. Thanks for helping out again with a Strøm På Roskilde event!
Well well… maybe I should quickly upload this blog and then go to bed, before Saturday demands my presence too much!
Thank you for reading and paying attention, it means a lot to me.
Stay safe!
