Under Red Skies is a project by Carsten Colberg from Roskilde, Denmark.
His inspiration and background from different music genres and instruments clearly shine through in the music.
Under Red Skies’ music can be described as dreamy ambient soundscapes that meets raw and gritty, minimalistic techno. Vibrant and bouncy grooves layered beneath tasteful melodies gently wrapped in soothing effects. Everything is carefully blended into a sonic and rhythmic experience that really wants to get your feet moving, but still with something for the mind to discover.
The music is mainly made and played with hardware, such as modular synths, samplers, drum machines and other electronic devices that might be a good fit for the current set-up.
His love for music and the curiosity to explore it often makes improvisation a part of his live sets. This tension, where the planned is thrown into the air (maybe to be caught again), is a key element in how Carsten likes to build his live sets.
In a live set, it is never entirely clear what you will get when Carsten turns on his machines. But as a listener, you should be prepared for more than just being gently soothed!
A clear goal for Carsten with Under Red Skies is to be an open-minded and inclusive artist, who wants to invite the listener into the world of electronic music, regardless of background.
Music should unite, not divide!
Carsten is the person behind Strøm På Roskilde, an initiative with the purpose of bringing electronic music out into the streets of his hometown, and showcasing the many aspects of electronic music. Besides this, he is also an active member of the international label and artist collective Petite Victory Collective, based in Copenhagen, DK.
